Holocaust Forgotten or Revisited

The Bravest Battle: The Twenty-eight Days Of The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

Monday, August 17, 2009
The author includes a day-to-day account of the Uprising, and his bibliography is very extensive. He factors the ZZW as well as the ZOB, and gives seldom-mentioned credit to Polish-gentile fighters such as Wolinski and Iwanski, who admittedly are not usually appreciated. (p. 348). WARNING: The descriptions of German cruelties may upset sensitive readers >>more...

Holocaust ;Fail to rescue

Sunday, August 2, 2009
Aid to European Jewry during the Second World War can only be dealt with in the context of the general war aims of the Allies. At all times the main concern of Britain and France, and then the United States, was the preservation of their empires and the capitalist system. The Soviet Union had no quarrel with this vision, except where its own troops actually penetrated Central Europe. London and Paris entered the war on the defensive, fearing both victory and defeat: the First World War had led to the collapse of four empires and the rise of Communism.   >>more...

The Holocaust

Sunday, August 2, 2009
The Holocaust was unprecedented, but now the precedent is there. One of the horrible lessons of the Holocaust is that it can happen again, it happened to a certain extent in Rwanda, East Timor and in Kosovo. The only way for us to relay the horrors of what happened,  its significance and to keep this from ever happening again is through "honest"  and universal education.

When you study the Holocaust, you are studying the highest level of organized hate in the history of mankind. Studying the rise of the Nazis, their extermination of the Jew's, the Roma's, the Jehovah's Witnesses and other "undesirables" is an exploration into how ordinary people canbe led into committing the ultimate horror  - genocide. "The Nazis victimized some people for what they did, some for what they refused to do, some for what they were, and some for the fact that they were." John Conway >>more...

The Ignored Collaboration

Sunday, August 2, 2009
I did not want to take part in the discussion caused by the publication of Prof. Jan t Gross's book "Neighbors" which deals with the murder of Jews committed in July 1941 in the town of Jedwabne in the Podlasie area. Primarily because the said discussion, picking up various motifs, has been so far bypassing the most important fact, i, e., what has happened in Jedwabne after the entry of the German army into that territory, that is, who, when and under what circumstances committed the mass murder on the Jewish inhabitants of Jedwabne >>more...

Wannsee Villa and Jews

Thursday, July 16, 2009
The luxurious mansion known as the Wannsee Villa was the site of a meeting whose goal was to coordinate the German ministries engaged in the implementation of the “Final Solution of the Jewish Question.” The event known as the “Wannsee Conference” took place on January 20, 1942, and the meeting (attended by Nazi civilian government and SS officials) proclaimed and mapped out “The Final Solutionof the Jewish Question.”  All this was done in secrecy, of course. Wannsee was a major departure from the previous Nazi plan to deal with the Jews known as the Madagascara Plan. >>more...

"Hell" Answer: Jedwabne's Circle of Hell

“Hell” Answer: Jedwabne’s Circle of Hell After reading the Article: The Nazis and “The East”: Jedwabne’s Circle of Hell, published in a Slavic Review, Vol.61, no 3 (Autumn 2002, pp. 476-482.  I had extremely mixed rational “turbulence”.
