Frontline: Shtetl

Tuesday, October 25, 2011
Marian Marzynski has produced a long and tedious film that not only exhibits a pronounced Polonoophobic slant, but fails to inform the viewer about the proper context of the tragic events that took place. A much better and objective source of information about Shtetl life, in my opinion, is the book SHTETL, by Eva Hoffman >>more...

Żydowski aparat szantażu w USA

Monday, October 17, 2011
Dzięki stosowaniu procentów składanych bogaci Żydzi podwajali swój stan posiadania z pokolenia na pokolenie i byli ważną częścią finansiery na świecie. Bezpośrednio po Drugiej Wojnie Światowej żydowscy właściciele hoteli w Nowym Jorku wywieszali napis "Żydom Wstęp Wzbroniony" ponieważ uważali, że w ten sposób więcej zarobią niż gdyby wynajmowali pokoje Żydom. >>more...

Development of rocket science in Poland by Kazimierz Siemionowicz

Sunday, October 16, 2011
Kazimierz Siemionowicz was a Polish-Lithuanian artillery general as well as a military engineer and a gunsmith. He was artillery specialist and pioneer of rocketry. He was born in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and he served the armies of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth which since 1569 became a Nobless Democracy in which by 1634 lived over one million of free citizens. General Siemionowicz spent a few years in the Netherlands where he published in Latin his pioneering book on rocketry. No portrait or detailed biography of him has survived and much of his life is a subject of dispute. He was educated at the Jesuit University of Vilno and was fascinated by artillery since childhood, and he studied many sciences to increase his knowledge (mathematics, mechanics, hydraulics, architecture, optics, tactics). In 1632-1634 he took part in the war against Muscovy in the siege of Biała under general Mikołaj Abromowicz and in 1644 he took part in the Battle of Ochmatów.  During the Spanish-Dutch war; he participated in the Siege of Hulst in 1645. In 1646 he returned to Poland, when King Wladyslaw IV created the Polish artillery corps and gathered specialists from Western Europe, planning a war against Turkey and its vassal the Crimean Tartars. He served as an engineering expert in the field of artillery and rocketry in the royal artillery forces. From 1648 he served as Second in Command of Polish Royal Artillery. In late 1648 the newly elected king John Casimir Vaza who gave up plans for the war with Ottomans advised him to return to the Netherlands and publish his studies there. In 1649 Siemienowicz decided to work on his book and publish it in Amsterdam. >>more...

Tło Powstania Listopadowego

Sunday, October 16, 2011
>>more...

Na co Polska może być jeszcze potrzebna?

Monday, October 10, 2011
>>more...

Post-Soviet Domestic and Foreign Challenges

Wednesday, October 5, 2011
Having been excluded for decades from the rewards of worldly advancement, our friends [in the post-Soviet Bloc] had failed to cultivate those arts - hypocrisy, treachery, and Realpolitik - without which it is impossible to stay in government. They sat in their offices for a while, pityingly observed by their staff of former secret policemen, while affable and much traveled rivals, of the kind with whom German Social Democrats and French Gaullists could both "do business", carefully groomed themselves for the next elections. Not since 1945 had so many records of communist party membership disappeared, or so many dissident biographies been invented. Within two years the real dissidents had returned to their studies, while the world outside was racing on, led by a new political class that had learned to add a record of outspoken dissidence to all its other dissimulations. We were witnessing what [Czechoslovak Communist Alexander] Dubcek had promised, socialism with a human face. The most urgent preoccupation of this new political class was to climb on to the European Union gravy train, which promised rewards of a kind that had been enjoyed in previous years only by the inner circle of the secret police.

To Succeed the "Sovereign" Successor

Wednesday, October 5, 2011
It is official. The current Russian President has announced that the former Muscovite head of state will soon be elected President once again. In other words, Vladimir Putin has been tapped by Dmitry Medvedev to succeed the successor. A rotation in office will occur. This will be blessed, of course, by a free presidential election.  Naturally, the Putin-Medvedev duo has paid lip service to democracy, or, in their instance, "sovereign democracy" (суверенная демократия). The latter is a vast improvement on Communist democracy, which was as different from parliamentary democracy as a regular chair from an electric chair, to invoke an old Soviet-era joke. >>more...

Koniec Euro w 2011 roku?

Friday, September 30, 2011
>>more...
